Description and multimedia

When composing this scintillating piece Ritman was inspired by Paul Drury’s quick march, Jubilee. A short piece that summarizes in a sprit of celebration much that has preceded, it presents two old Christian songs of spiritual warfare that project the prospect of being with our Lord some day.

First comes “The day of victory’s coming, ‘tis coming by and by, When to the Cross of Calvary all nations they will fly; We’re soldiers in The Army, we’ll fight until we die, For the day of victory’s coming by an by.“ The Trio or second portion of the march features an old Ranter melody that the SA connected with the song All Hail, I’m Saved: “Soldiers fighting round the Cross, fight for your Lord; Reckon all things else but loss, Fight for the Lord. All hail! I’m saved! Oh, come and join our conquering band; All hail! I’m saved! We’ll conquer if we die.”

Towards the conclusion Ritman brings back The Day of Victory in counterpoint with the second tune for a climactic finish to the march.
